Green Screen Backdrop- How to Use It?

A green or blue backdrop is used for the creation of bottom layer. This layer is used to replace one image with another according to ones own preference. There are many industries and domains where this technology is used. The most common of all is weather forecast. Although we see a weather forecast presenter standing in front of a world map, but it is not so. The presenter is made to stand before a plain colored screen which is green and sometimes blue in color. Later, with the help of video editor, the screen is replaced with a world map. The similar process could be used for others tasks too. Another industry which uses these backdrops extensively is the modeling world. It is always not possible to go at different locations and shoot. This is why, when a photographer wishes to place an exotic location in a picture with a model, he makes use of backdrops. What is basically done is that a model is shot in different poses standing before a green screen. After clicking various shots, with an editing tool, the green background is replaced with an exotic location. This gives a feel as if the shots were taken at the real place. This is done in photoshop as well. It is easy to understand that you can use a green background, but how should you use it? The first thing to keep in mind is the quality of backdrop cloth used. A large piece of non-reflective plain green fabric is needed. 

With green screen backdrop, it is anywhere that you can click pictures. In the digital world of photography, chroma key backdrops remain the topmost preference when pictures need to be clicked or used in a video. Placing a cloth at the back that is well-stretched and wrinkle-free is the right choice. When buying a green cloth to be used as a background, consider the following points.

It should be of a good quality and the material of cloth should be able to absorb light. This is needed so that reflection is completely eradicated. Using 100% cotton fabric remains to be the best choice.

It would be easy to maintain a backdrop that is light in weight, and can be easily washed in a washing machine.

When you need to place the cloth on a stand, if it has sleeves, then it would be easy to fix it.

Folding the green screen should not be a challenge. It means the lighter it is, the easier it would be to fold and store it.
